TEST FACILITIES

BHEL is manufacturing centrifugal compressor with technical Know-how from Nuovo Pignone, Italy. So far more than 260 compressors had been successfully manufactured tested & supplied to cater for various applications for several Petrochemical, Fertilizer & Refinery plants.

 

As compressors are critical equipments a high quality of testing is required. This is ensured by quality testing methods and practices and modern state of art test facilities.

 

BHEL is equipped with test facilities for carrying out the following tests for compressors and turbines as per international standards API 617, API 612 & PTC - 10 & custom specification

 
1 No load Mechanical Run test.
2 Rotor Insensitivity Test
3 String Mechanical Run Test.
4 Complete Unit Test.
5 Thermodynamics Performance Test.
6 Static Seal / Gas Leak Test.
7 Full Load, speed, Full Pressure Test.
 
I Test Facilities.
 

1) Electrical Drive : Electrical drives of 850 KW to 2000 KW, 6.6 KV with variable speed Hydraulic Coupling & Gear Box from 3000 rpm to 18000 rpm.

2) H.T Switch gear: 6.6 KV H.T .Switch gear, Starting control panel & 3000KVA, 11KV / 6.6 KV.Power Transformer for above electrical drives.

3) Steam Drive Facility : 30 T/hr, 65 ATA, 480 degree C steam Boiler for steam turbine drive.

4) Dual drive System: To carry out full load full pressure test up to 3.5 MW Dual drive system consisting of 2MW Motor + Turbine

5) Complete unit test facility: A Separate lube oil pit for installation job lube oil system to carry out complete test.

6) Seal Oil System: Seal oil system to carry out seal test and gas leak test up test up to 400Kg / Cm^2 with auto control.

7) Test plan Gas Coolers : Low pressure up to 50 Kg / Cm^2&high pressure up to 200Kg / Cm^2.

8) Cooling water system: Cooling water system consisting of cooling tower and cooling water pumps to cater load requirement of 5MW load.

9) Gas Storage Vessels: 6 Tonnes Liquid storage tank, Make Distillers MG with refrigeration system to carry out performance tests with CO2.

10) High pressure Gas System : Gas system consisting of diaphragm compressor to increase the gas pressure in the loop up to 400 kg/Cm^2.

11) Gas Analysis: HP Make chromatograph & latest version of Micro Gas Chromatograph, make Chrompack, Model CP 2002.

12) Lube Oil System: Test plant lube oil system with 5 micron filtration & auto temperature control, flow up to 1000 LPM capacity & pressure 10 kg / Cm^2 along with emergency DC Pump & over head tank of 5 minutes capacity.

13) Condenser System: Condenser System up to 2MW load to carry out Full Speed Full Pressure test with steam turbine drive.

14) Test Beds: Three test beds with 3Nos.electrical drives and two test beds for job steam turbine drive. Test bed can accommodate performance pipe of diameter 24 inches.

15) Out Door Test Bed: The test bed can accommodate performance test piping of f 40" & steam capacity up to 5MW load with condenser and cooling water system.

III Instrumentation:

1. Calibration facility for temperature, pressure, vibration & Speed. Dead Weight Tester, make Budenburg, accuracy 0.008%, Bently TK-3 for vibration, HP function generation for speed.

2. Instruments:

i) Bently vibration system consists of 3300 vibration monitor & ADRE system for online vibration monitoring and analysis.

ii) DAS: Equipped with the following modern data acquisition systems to meet latest API & Customer requirement including state of art computing & evaluation capability.

a) HP make data acquisition system for online acquisition.
