However, the market for 60MW and 110 MW did not pick up with the customers opting for 200 MW sets and above. This set Hyderabad Unit into the Phase.II of the development through a flurry of strategic diversification into varied products. This period can be called as the golden age of Hyderabad Unit due to 

 The Unit could register its first profit in the year 1971-72.

  The Unit entered into Collaboration Agreeements with –  

           M/s.Nuovo Pignone , Italy for manufacture of Centrifugal Compressors. 

           M/s.Siemens, Germany for High Speed Drive Turbines

           M/s.Combustion Engg. , USA for Bowl type Coal Pulverisers

           M/s.National Oil Wells , USA for deep drilling on shore Oil Rigs

           M/s.Sigma Luten , Czechoslovakia for Pumps

 Establishment of Computer Centre and Ancillary Units

 Worker’s participation in Industry

This phase helped BHEL Hyderabad Unit in broad basing its business portfolio and helped the Unit to overcome the peaks and valleys of order booking of various products.  It also helped the Unit in the ability to absorb different technologies within a short period.
